The Yamaha R9 is not a feel-good motorbike for leisurely country road tours - and that's a good thing. It appeals to ambitious riders who are looking for a sporty machine that also excites off the race track. The engine is outstanding, the suspension is top-notch and the brakes are excellent. Only the demanding ergonomics make the Yamaha R9 less attractive for long-distance riders or pleasure bikers. However, if you are looking for a sharp country road weapon with trackday potential, the R9 is an extremely well-rounded and affordable overall package. Be sure to test ride it! This is the only way to find out whether you are the type for the physical and direct nature of the Yamaha R9.
KTM 890 Duke R 2023
The KTM 890 Duke R is the sportiest evolutionary stage of the 890 Duke. More power, firmer chassis, sharper brakes - these ingredients, together with the already low vehicle weight, make it a real precision machine. A fast and cool bike for riding fun fetishists, ambitious home track heaters and, last but not least, a real recommendation for trackday visitors. However, the sporty positioning of the upper body and the somewhat more acute knee angle come at the expense of comfort. Last but not least, the adjustable suspension in the basic setup is really crisply tuned. If you want to enjoy the powerful 890 engine and the high-quality electronics a little more comfortably, you can still go for the basic model with a clear conscience.
