KTM 390 Adventure R 2025

KTM 390 Adventure R 2025

The KTM 390 Adventure R is the more uncompromising choice for riders who prioritise off-road riding. Its low weight, long travel and modern electronics ensure plenty of control and ample reserves both on and off tarmac. The 399-cm³ single-cylinder engine feels lively and revvy, but requires more gear changes and higher revs for brisk riding than the CFMOTO’s twin cylinder engine. On journeys of length, the KTM feels significantly more rugged, with its narrow seat, stronger vibrations and modest wind protection. In return, it offers a more precise and playful overall package on technical terrain. Anyone looking for as much genuine enduro bike capability as possible in the A2 class – and who is willing to accept compromises on comfort – will find the 390 Adventure R to be one of the most exciting bikes in its class.

Excellent ergonomics for both standing and seated riding

adjustable suspension with plenty of travel

modern electronics

decent wind protection

versatile

lightweight

The engine needs high revs for confident acceleration

the focus on sportiness compromises comfort (e.g. the seat is quite firm)

the quickshifter and cruise control are only available at extra cost

Triumph Scrambler 400 X 2025

Triumph Scrambler 400 X 2025

If you like a cool scrambler look but need to stay in the A2-compatible range when it comes to the engine, the Triumph Scrambler 400 X is a really smart choice. The 400cc engine has a nice torque in the mid-range; it doesn't really wind out a gear. The riding position is upright, the suspension is comfortable yet stable. The Scrambler 400 X can therefore also be ridden in a sporty manner, although the front brakes require too much manual force when ridden with vigour. On the other hand, the features are generous with the many off-road orientated attachments and put the higher price into perspective compared to the naked Speed 400 sister.

high-quality modern-classic look

good price

engine with strong centre

responsive suspension

good, model-matched tyres

Weak brakes at the front
