However, both bikes have their weaknesses. The Ducati DesertX 2023 may have a slightly rougher engine performance in the lower rev range compared to the BMW R 1250 GS Adventure. Its suspension response is slightly behind that of the fork, which may affect the overall ride quality. Additionally, it lacks space and handholds for pillion riders, which may limit its usability for two-up riding.

On the other hand, the BMW R 1250 GS Adventure 2023 has a higher weight, which may affect maneuverability, especially in off-road conditions. The gearshifts at low revs can be somewhat clumsy, requiring more effort from the rider. The R 1250 GS Adventure also has a jagged appearance with little elegance, which may not appeal to riders looking for a sleek and stylish design. Lastly, the bike is relatively high-priced, especially when equipped with full equipment, which may be a deterrent for budget-conscious buyers.

In conclusion, both the Ducati DesertX 2023 and BMW R 1250 GS Adventure 2023 offer powerful engines, advanced rider assistance systems, and a range of features suitable for off-road adventures. The DesertX excels in its chassis and suspension adjustability, while the R 1250 GS Adventure impresses with its high-torque engine, low center of gravity, and practical details. However, each bike has its own weaknesses, such as the DesertX's rough engine performance and high seat height, and the R 1250 GS Adventure's higher weight and jagged appearance. Ducati DesertX 2023

Ducati DesertX 2023

The first real enduro of the modern era from Ducati has succeeded - and how! A heart-warming design in the look of the glorious 90s Dakar bikes but packed with noble components and state-of-the-art technology. The high-quality and stable chassis concept really comes into its own in both on- and off-road use. The DesertX immediately conveys an unbelievably confident and safe riding feeling. The straddle that Ducati has managed with the suspension elements is also admirable, whether on or off road, it simply feels good.

BMW R 1250 GS Adventure 2023

BMW R 1250 GS Adventure 2023

The big GS Adventure is and remains a great motorbike for any terrain - even for tight corners. The low centre of gravity of the boxer engine, the longitudinally mounted crankshaft, the upright seating position and the powerful but easily controllable torque from far below are simply a force. Although the Adventure version has a higher seat with more weight, which is a decisive hindrance when turning or manoeuvring, in terms of performance the engine also has so much punch in the big GS Adventure that you can let it rip. The BMW's braking system is stable and excellently controllable, and the equipment and electronics can be upgraded considerably - as long as you tick the boxes on the order list. Of course, this pushes up the price, but the many fans of the fat GS Adventure obviously don't mind.
