The SM 500R is not a thoroughbred supermoto that only wants to be ridden on the kart track. You can have fun with it there, too, but narrow bends and mountain passes are its home. The Tenere 700 is still unrivalled in 2022. It offers the best compromise between price, off-road capability and ride comfort on the road. It rides into the heart, is super fun and is a motorbike for a wide range of uses. Die-hard fans will forgive the lack of electronic features. The somewhat lax brakes and the annoying fuel cap probably won't.
