The KTM 390 Duke 2015 and the BMW G 310 R 2017 are both popular naked bikes in their respective model years. While they share some similarities in terms of specifications, they also have distinct differences that set them apart.
In terms of engine power, the KTM 390 Duke 2015 has a slight advantage with 44 HP compared to the BMW G 310 R 2017's 34 HP. This translates to a more powerful and exhilarating riding experience on the KTM. However, the BMW compensates for this with its smooth response, providing a more refined and controlled ride.
Both bikes have a single-cylinder engine with a displacement of around 300cc. The KTM has a slightly larger displacement at 373.2cc compared to the BMW's 313cc. This means that the KTM may have a slight edge in terms of overall performance and acceleration.

In terms of suspension, both bikes feature upside-down telescopic forks at the front, providing good stability and handling. The KTM has a Chromium-molybdenum frame, which is known for its strength and durability. On the other hand, the BMW has a steel frame, which may not be as robust as the KTM's frame.
Both bikes have single disk brakes at the front, ensuring reliable stopping power. The wheelbase of the BMW is slightly longer at 1374mm compared to the KTM's 1367mm. However, the difference is minimal and may not have a significant impact on the overall handling and maneuverability of the bikes.
In terms of seat height, the BMW has a lower seat height at 785mm compared to the KTM's 800mm. This makes the BMW more accessible to riders with shorter inseams. However, taller riders may find the KTM more comfortable due to its slightly higher seat height.

In terms of design, the BMW G 310 R 2017 stands out with its sleek and modern aesthetics. It has a more refined and sophisticated look compared to the KTM, which has a more aggressive and sporty appearance. However, some riders may find that certain components on the BMW look cheap, which can be a drawback.
Overall, both the KTM 390 Duke 2015 and the BMW G 310 R 2017 have their strengths and weaknesses. The KTM offers a more powerful and performance-oriented ride, with its anti-hopping clutch and compact geometry. On the other hand, the BMW provides a smoother response and a lower seat height, making it more accessible to a wider range of riders. Ultimately, the choice between the two will depend on the rider's preferences and priorities.

No longer a small Duke, but not yet a big one either, the 390 is right in the middle. You shouldn't underestimate it, but you shouldn't expect too much either. If you keep this in mind, you will have a lot of fun with it, even on a not too fast race track. (However, not too many thousands should be on the road then.) Feather-light handling like a moped, but already as strong as many a 600cc funk bike from the last 10 years.

The BMW G 310 R scores with easy handling that should not overtax any beginner. The great responsiveness of the single cylinder makes it easy to control, and the low seat height gives a secure footing at traffic lights. For reasons of cost, savings were made in some corners, which unfortunately also becomes visible. In comparison, the workmanship is not on a par with the competition.
