Triumph Street Triple 765 R 2021 vs. KTM 790 Duke 2018

In terms of engine and drive train, both the Triumph Street Triple 765 R 2021 and the KTM 790 Duke 2018 have inline engines with fuel injection. However, the Street Triple has a higher engine power of 118 HP compared to the 105 HP of the 790 Duke. The Street Triple also has three cylinders, while the 790 Duke has two. Both bikes have liquid cooling and similar displacements, with the Street Triple at 765ccm and the 790 Duke at 799ccm.

For suspension, the Street Triple features a Showa upside-down telescopic fork in the front and a Showa swing arm with a monoshock in the rear. The rear suspension of the Street Triple is adjustable for compression, preload, and rebound. On the other hand, the 790 Duke has a WP upside-down telescopic fork in the front and a WP swing arm with a monoshock in the rear. The rear suspension of the 790 Duke is adjustable for preload only. Both bikes have aluminum components in their suspension systems.

In terms of chassis, the Street Triple has an aluminum frame with a twin tube design, while the 790 Duke has a chromium-molybdenum frame with a tubular design. Both bikes have double disk brakes in the front with a diameter of 310mm for the Street Triple and 300mm for the 790 Duke. The front brakes on both bikes have four pistons and radial technology. Both bikes also have advanced rider assistance systems such as ABS, riding modes, and traction control.

In terms of dimensions and weights, both bikes have a front tire width of 120mm and a rear tire width of 180mm, with both tires having a diameter of 17 inches. The Street Triple has a wheelbase of 1405mm, while the 790 Duke has a slightly longer wheelbase of 1475mm. Both bikes have a seat height of 825mm. The dry weight of the Street Triple with ABS is 168kg, while the 790 Duke weighs slightly more at 169kg. The Street Triple also has a larger fuel tank capacity of 17.4 liters compared to the 14 liters of the 790 Duke.

In terms of strengths, the Street Triple offers a wide usable rev range, an active seating position, high stability, a great gearbox with a shift assistant, and a first-class chassis. On the other hand, the 790 Duke has a lively, high-revving engine with powerful acceleration, an optimally tuned chassis for sporty riding, an awesome sound even with the series muffler, many electronic gimmicks and functions, an extremely precise quickshifter that makes fast riding easier, and a comfortable seating position.

In terms of weaknesses, the Street Triple has traction control that regulates early, a seat with little grip, and an outdated display. The 790 Duke, on the other hand, has rough handling at low revs, can be difficult to handle in city traffic, sometimes has fiddly-looking switches on the handlebars, and may have an oil leak at the engine block on many 790 Dukes.
