Overview - Honda X-ADV 2017 vs Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin 2020
The Honda X-ADV 2017 and the Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin 2020 are both impressive models from Honda, but they have some key differences.
In terms of engine specifications, the Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin 2020 has a more powerful engine with 102 HP and 105 Nm of torque compared to the Honda X-ADV 2017's 55 HP and 68 Nm of torque. The Africa Twin also has a larger displacement of 1084cc compared to the X-ADV's 745cc. This difference in power and displacement makes the Africa Twin more suitable for off-road adventures and long-distance riding.
Both models have a liquid-cooled engine and use fuel injection for efficient performance. They also have electric starters and multiplate clutches in an oil bath. However, the X-ADV 2017 has a dual-clutch transmission, which provides smooth and seamless gear shifts, while the Africa Twin 2020 has a traditional gearshift transmission. The X-ADV's dual-clutch transmission is a standout feature that sets it apart from other scooters.
In terms of suspension, both models have upside-down telescopic forks at the front and monoshock absorbers at the rear. However, the Africa Twin 2020 has a longer travel distance for both the front and rear suspension, with 230mm and 220mm respectively. Pros and Cons in comparison
Pros and Cons in comparison
Honda X-ADV 2017

With the X-ADV, Honda was very brave and took the plunge. The idea of an off-road scooter is a completely new one, but the idea has worked. The appearance of the X-ADV is powerful and gives you the feeling that it can go anywhere. The propulsion is also right. The DCT transmission works excellently with the two-cylinder and makes the Honda X-ADV an excellent all-round scooter.
Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin 2020

For me, the Africa Twin is a touring enduro as a touring enduro should be. This was already true of the predecessor model and did not change with the increase in displacement and power. Because the latter remained manageable at 102 hp, and Honda even managed to shed a few kilos compared to the CRF1000L. So it remained versatile, functioning just as well on the motorway as off-road. The chassis absorbs almost all bumps, the engine remains sovereign in every situation, ergonomics and seating comfort are exemplary. A motorbike for all days as well as for the big trip - wherever that may be.
