Wunderlich AKTIVKOMFORT now available to match Option 719 Karakorum

On the BMW R 1300 GS Adventure, the seat plays a central role. After all, the big adventure bike shouldn't just work on short rides, but equally on long daily stages and off paved roads. Wunderlich is now expanding its corresponding accessory program with another design variant. New are the green-gold AKTIVKOMFORT seats in the style of the BMW Option 719 Karakorum. They complement the versions already offered in Trophy design as well as in classic black. This means three different designs are now available to choose from. Wunderlich also offers three different seat heights for the BMW R 1300 GS Adventure, as well as a separate passenger seat.

Three seat heights for different GS riders

For the rider's seat, customers can choose between standard height, a low, and a high version. The low variant reduces the seat height by 20 millimeters, while the high version offers an additional 20 millimeters. The program therefore comprises the following variants:

Dedicated seat contours for rider and passenger

There's more behind the different heights than a purely visual adjustment. Wunderlich states that it has developed distinct seat contours for both rider and passenger. These are said to have been tested during numerous test rides. The rider's seat is designed to support the natural position of the pelvis and optimize leg position. According to the manufacturer, this should bring advantages both when riding seated in the classic way and when riding standing up. The latter in particular is relevant for off-road sections on an adventure bike like the BMW R 1300 GS Adventure. Wunderlich promises more control and a more relaxed riding experience as a result. For the passenger, Wunderlich pursues a correspondingly adapted design. The rear AKTIVKOMFORT seat is intended to combine ergonomic comfort with secure support, thereby differing from the standard equipment.

Special seat core designed to distribute pressure more evenly

Beneath the cover lies a seat core developed by Wunderlich. It is designed to prevent bottoming out and to distribute the resulting seat pressure evenly over a larger area. At the same time, the construction is intended to relieve pressure on the tailbone. As a base, Wunderlich uses a sturdy base shell. The cover and the three-dimensionally shaped seat core are joined together using a special bonding technology. With this, the manufacturer aims to prevent the two components from shifting relative to one another while riding. In this context, Wunderlich speaks of a direct riding experience and clear feedback from the AKTIVKOMFORT seat.

Smart Plug & Play: seat heating via the BMW rider menu

The integrated seat heating should be of interest to year-round riders. The Karakorum variants are offered with the AKTIVKOMFORT Smart Plug & Play seat heating. According to Wunderlich, an additional separate control unit is not required. Instead, the seat heating is controlled entirely via the rider menu of the BMW R 1300 GS Adventure. Wunderlich describes the installed heating element as robust and durable. The heat is said to distribute evenly across the seat surface, making it feel particularly pleasant.

ThermoPro against overheated seat surfaces

A heated seat is practical in winter – but in the height of summer, the opposite is usually what's needed. For this, Wunderlich relies on its ThermoPro cover. According to the manufacturer, the material reflects around 70 percent of the sun's thermal radiation. Compared to conventional cover materials, this is said to keep the seat surface temperature up to 25 degrees Celsius lower. The grip level and freedom of movement should not be impaired by the special cover. Wunderlich uses the ThermoPro technology on both the rider and passenger seats. This means the new seats are designed to cover two opposing requirements: at low temperatures, the integrated heating provides warmth, while in intense sunlight, the cover is meant to reduce excessive heating of the surface.

Waterproof seams for bad-weather riding

An adventure bike inevitably gets more than just sunshine. Accordingly, Wunderlich also addresses the topic of water. According to the manufacturer, the seams are joined and welded using a bonding technique. Wunderlich states 100 percent watertightness for this construction. At the same time, the seams are said to be arranged so that they don't cause pressure points. This should be of particular interest to riders who use their R 1300 GS Adventure on longer tours regardless of the weather. In its product description, Wunderlich also explicitly highlights use in the rain as well as on muddy off-road sections.

Karakorum, Trophy, or classic black

With the new color variant, it's not the technical range that grows, but primarily the visual one. The AKTIVKOMFORT rider and passenger seats are now offered in three designs. In addition to the new green-gold Karakorum version, the program is also available in Trophy design and classic black. The Karakorum version is specifically aimed at owners of a correspondingly configured BMW R 1300 GS Adventure.

Wunderlich offers test rides with AKTIVKOMFORT seats

For those who don't want to rely solely on technical descriptions when it comes to a seat, Wunderlich says it's possible to try it out before buying. At the Wunderlich Test Center at the company headquarters in Grafschaft-Ringen, there's the option to test ride AKTIVKOMFORT seats on your own bike without obligation. This offer is not limited exclusively to the BMW R 1300 GS Adventure. Corresponding seats can be tested on your own BMW as well as on the Ducati DesertX, Ducati Multistrada V4 and V2, or Harley-Davidson Pan America. Especially with a product whose benefit depends heavily on body height, seating position, and personal comfort preference, such a test ride offers the opportunity to verify the manufacturer's claims yourself. Further information on the AKTIVKOMFORT seats and the accessory program for the BMW R 1300 GS Adventure is available directly from Wunderlich.
