The Daytona Arrow Vent GTX short boot uses perforated leather and Cordura inserts to let air reach the foot, while a Gore-Tex Carbon-Grey membrane keeps rain from getting in. In the following performance check, we take a close look at the build quality, features, comfort and practicality of the Daytona Arrow Vent GTX.

The clean build quality stands out from the very first touch. Daytona manufactures the Arrow Vent GTX from soft, water-repellent greased cowhide leather, which together with large Cordura textile zones gives it a functional and understated look. Despite its extensive protective equipment, the boot feels surprisingly light. The perforations in the leather and the open-design textile areas make it clear even at a standstill that the focus is clearly on good ventilation.

The double shaft cuff with hook-and-loop closure as well as the two side zippers noticeably make putting the boot on easier. With a shaft height of around 22 centimeters, the Arrow Vent GTX sits just above the ankle, offering plenty of freedom of movement. That makes it particularly interesting for summer use. At the same time, there's still enough room to comfortably wear "straight-cut" motorcycle pants over the boot.

Visually, the Daytona keeps a low profile. The black colorway looks timeless and functional, while the small 3M Scotchlite reflector on the heel and the understated Daytona logos add a bit of visual interest.

At first glance, the combination of a waterproof membrane and a summer boot sounds almost like a contradiction. This is exactly the balancing act the Daytona Arrow Vent GTX aims to pull off. The heart of the concept is the Gore-Tex Carbon-Grey membrane, developed specifically for warm temperatures. Unlike the membranes in the Arrow Sport GTX, which are designed more for cooler seasons, this one sits directly behind the perforated outer material and is meant to transport moisture outward much faster.

In practice, this means the perforations in the leather don't just create airflow, they also help wick away sweat. At the same time, the membrane itself remains closed, so water from outside can't get in. The holes are located exclusively in the outer material. Worries that the first summer rain shower will land right inside the boot are unfounded. However, you shouldn't mistake the Arrow Vent GTX for an open-pore summer sneaker: the membrane remains a noticeable part of the concept, which is why absolute maximum ventilation isn't its core strength.

For riders who don't want to give up a waterproof motorcycle boot, or 100% splash protection from below, even in high temperatures, this construction is one of the most interesting aspects of the Arrow Vent GTX.

CE-certified ankle protectors on both sides are part of the equipment, as is a plastic-reinforced insole with an integrated steel shank. This keeps the boot torsionally rigid enough for motorcycle use without feeling uncomfortably stiff while walking. This pays off especially on trips, since even short walks are easy to manage in the Arrow Vent GTX.

It's particularly positive to note that Daytona doesn't just rely on hard protective elements, but also backs the protectors with open-cell foam padding. This noticeably increases wearing comfort. The sturdy rubber sole with a sport tread pattern also provides ample grip on asphalt, gas station floors, or wet cobblestones.

Like all summer boots, the Daytona Arrow Vent GTX faces a fundamental trade-off: the lighter and airier a motorcycle boot becomes, the more often this comes at the expense of protection. Daytona tries to strike a middle ground here, but naturally can't completely overcome the structural limits of a short-shaft boot.

The Arrow Vent GTX isn't a boot that only works on the bike. Rather, many details reveal that it was developed for riders who want to wear the boot all day long.

The two side zippers are particularly pleasant. Getting the boot on is noticeably faster than with many comparable short-shaft boots. Once closed, the double shaft cuff holds the boot securely on the foot, while the softly finished shaft edge prevents pressure points.

Add to that an anatomically shaped climate insole and a PU foam midsole, which noticeably cushion unevenness. On tour, the benefit of this equipment becomes especially clear, since short walks or sightseeing stops are no problem at all. However, anyone planning longer walking sections should keep in mind that the Arrow Vent GTX is, after all, a motorcycle boot and not a hiking shoe.

The build quality also leaves a high-quality impression. Seams, transitions and material edges look cleanly finished and give the feeling that the Arrow Vent GTX isn't meant to survive just one season.

After just the first few kilometers, it becomes clear where Daytona placed its focus with this boot. The Arrow Vent GTX feels noticeably airier than classic touring boots with a membrane, without ever giving the impression of a lightweight summer shoe. This is especially noticeable in warm temperatures, where the combination of perforated leather, textile panels and the Gore-Tex Carbon-Grey membrane makes itself felt. While many waterproof boots noticeably trap heat on hot days, the climate inside the Arrow Vent GTX stays surprisingly pleasant. Of course, it's no substitute for a fully open summer shoe, but the difference compared to conventional Gore-Tex touring boots is clearly noticeable.

Away from the bike, too, the Arrow Vent GTX racks up plus points. For a motorcycle boot, it offers surprisingly good walking comfort - the sole rolls off nicely and copes without issue with short walks or exploring old towns. In everyday travel, the two zippers also prove to be a real comfort benefit, since putting the boots on and taking them off is noticeably quicker.

Out on the road, the Arrow Vent GTX also scores with a precise feel for the shift lever and footpegs. The abrasion-resistant shift pad protects the leather without distorting the shifting feel. At the same time, the sole provides sufficient stability to comfortably cover longer stretches.
