In the following performance check, we take a close look at the craftsmanship, features, comfort, and practicality of the Daytona Arrow Vent GTX.

Right from the first touch, the meticulous craftsmanship stands out. Daytona constructs the Arrow Vent GTX from soft, water-repellent, oil-treated cowhide, combined with extensive Cordura textile zones to create a functional and understated look. Despite its comprehensive protective features, the boot feels surprisingly light. The leather perforations and open textile areas make it evident even at a standstill that the focus is on excellent ventilation.

The double shaft cuff with Velcro closure and the two side zippers significantly ease entry. With a shaft height of around 22 centimeters, the Arrow Vent GTX extends just above the ankle, offering plenty of freedom of movement. This makes it particularly appealing for summer use. At the same time, there's ample room to comfortably wear "straight-cut" motorcycle pants over the boot.

Visually, the Daytona is understated. The black color scheme appears timeless and functional, while the small 3M-Scotchlite reflector on the heel and the subtle Daytona logos provide a bit of flair.

At first glance, the combination of a waterproof membrane and summer boots seems almost paradoxical. This is precisely the balancing act the Daytona Arrow Vent GTX aims to achieve. The core of the concept is the Gore-Tex Carbon-Grey membrane, specifically designed for warm temperatures. Unlike the membranes in the Arrow Sport GTX, which are more suited for cooler seasons, it sits directly behind the perforated outer material and is intended to transport moisture outwards much faster.

In practice, this means: The perforations in the leather not only promote airflow but also aid in wicking away sweat. At the same time, the membrane remains sealed, preventing external water from entering. The perforations are only in the outer material, so the fear that the first summer rain will soak into the shoe is unfounded. However, the Arrow Vent GTX should not be confused with a breathable summer sneaker: The membrane remains an integral part of the design, meaning absolute maximum ventilation is not its forte.

For riders who don't want to forgo waterproof motorcycle boots or 100% splash protection from below even in high temperatures, this design is one of the most intriguing aspects of the Arrow Vent GTX.

Dual-sided, CE-certified ankle protectors are part of the package, along with a plastic-reinforced insole with an integrated steel shank. This ensures the boot remains torsionally stable enough for motorcycle use without feeling uncomfortably stiff when walking. This feature is especially advantageous on trips, as short walks can be comfortably managed with the Arrow Vent GTX.

It's particularly noteworthy that Daytona doesn't just rely on hard protective elements; the protectors are additionally backed with open-cell foam. This noticeably enhances wearing comfort. The robust rubber sole with a sports profile also provides ample grip on asphalt, gas station floors, or wet cobblestones.

Like all summer boots, the Daytona Arrow Vent GTX faces a trade-off: The lighter and airier a motorcycle boot becomes, the more it tends to compromise on protection. Daytona attempts a middle ground here, but naturally cannot entirely overcome the design limitations of a short-shaft boot.

The Arrow Vent GTX isn't just a boot that works on the motorcycle; it's clear from many details that it was designed for riders who want to wear it all day long.

The two side zippers are particularly convenient, allowing for much faster entry compared to many similar short-shaft boots. Once closed, the double shaft cuff keeps the boot securely on the foot, while the soft collar prevents pressure points.

Additionally, there's an anatomically shaped climate control insole and a PU foam midsole that effectively cushion irregularities. On tour, the benefit of this setup is especially evident, as short strolls or sightseeing are easily managed. However, those planning longer walking distances should keep in mind that the Arrow Vent GTX is still a motorcycle boot, not a hiking shoe.

The craftsmanship also leaves a high-quality impression. Seams, transitions, and material edges appear neatly executed, giving the sense that the Arrow Vent GTX is built to last more than just one season.

After just the first few kilometers, it becomes clear where Daytona's focus lies with this boot. The Arrow Vent GTX feels noticeably more breathable than traditional touring boots with a membrane, without giving the impression of a lightweight motorcycle shoe. Especially in summer temperatures, the combination of perforated leather, textile areas, and the Gore-Tex Carbon-Grey membrane stands out. While many waterproof boots noticeably trap heat on hot days, the climate inside the Arrow Vent GTX remains surprisingly comfortable. It doesn't replace a fully open summer shoe, but the difference from conventional Gore-Tex touring boots is clearly noticeable.

Even off the bike, the Arrow Vent GTX scores points. For a motorcycle boot, it offers surprisingly good walking comfort—the sole rolls nicely and handles short strolls or explorations through old towns with ease. In everyday travel, the two zippers are a real comfort bonus, making putting on and taking off much quicker.

In riding mode, the Arrow Vent GTX also shines with precise feedback for the gear lever and foot pegs. The abrasion-resistant shift reinforcement protects the leather without distorting the shifting feel. At the same time, the sole provides enough stability to comfortably handle longer stretches.
