Anyone looking for a sporty full-face helmet almost inevitably ends up with Shoei sooner or later. The Japanese manufacturer has been one of the most established brands in the premium segment for years and enjoys a particularly strong reputation among sporty riders – not because of big marketing promises, but due to years of experience, high build quality, and convincing real-world characteristics.
It's especially exciting right now between these two flagship models: the Shoei NXR2 and the Shoei X-SPR Pro.
At first glance, they look similarly sporty. Both are built to a high standard, both carry current racing genes, and both are clearly aimed at ambitious riders. In practice, however, there are clear differences between them.
The NXR2 is the sporty road helmet. Light, compact, suitable for everyday use, yet aggressive enough for fast country road riders or the occasional trackday.
The X-SPR Pro, on the other hand, is an uncompromising racing helmet. Developed for extreme speeds, aggressive riding positions, and maximum stability at high speed.
That's exactly why we wanted to test both helmets not only in everyday use and on the road, but also where their differences really become relevant: on the race track and at high speed. Because that's exactly where aerodynamics, fit, and ventilation show how well they actually work.
