Touratech Expands Protection System for BMW R 1300 GS

The BMW R 1300 GS is an adventure bike that's at home both on the road and off. As its offroad use increases, the importance of robust protection solutions that safeguard delicate components and expand its usability becomes paramount.

Touratech enhances its protection system for the BMW R 1300 GS with the new valve cover guard. This component complements the existing engine crash bars and is aimed at providing additional protection for the exposed cylinder areas.

Specifically engineered to safeguard the delicate valve covers, the new guard is crafted from two-millimeter thick, three-dimensional aluminum, providing extensive coverage. It mounts directly onto the engine crash bar, significantly enhancing protection during lateral impacts in offroad conditions.

A standout feature of this component is its structural design, which distributes forces over a wide area to reduce stress peaks. It maintains high rigidity while keeping weight low, with vibration-damping rubber elements enhancing the mounting.

Visually, the valve cover guard is also harmonized with the overall vehicle design. Its shape and lines are in sync with the BMW R 1300 GS design, precisely matching the Touratech engine crash bar. The foundation remains the Touratech stainless steel engine crash bar. Constructed from 25 x 2 mm strong tubes and three-dimensionally shaped plates, it offers an all-around protective structure with four independent mounting points. Forces are absorbed, distributed over defined load paths, and dissipated in a controlled manner through integrated predetermined bending points.

The valve cover guard is available in two versions—silver and black anodized—each priced at 149.90 euros.
