Rugged Protection and Smart Accessory Platform for Adventure Motorcycles
Especially for a big adventure bike like the Africa Twin Adventure Sports, protection components are a crucial consideration—particularly when long road trips include the occasional detour onto gravel trails.
Touratech Fairing Crash Bars for the Africa Twin Adventure Sports
The Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin Adventure Sports is considered a versatile adventure touring bike, with a focus on comfortable long-distance travel. However, it is also well-suited for off-road excursions. In its stock configuration, though, the radiator and fairing remain largely unprotected in the event of a tip-over.
This is where the newly developed Touratech fairing crash bars for the 2024 model generation come into play. The design generously encloses the sensitive areas around the tank, side panels, and radiator, and is intended to absorb a significant portion of the impact forces in a fall. According to the manufacturer, the remaining energy is directed into the frame through defined attachment points to minimize damage to the vehicle.

This accessory is aimed at both adventure riders and touring enthusiasts who want to add extra protection to their adventure bike.
Stainless Steel Construction with CNC Manufacturing
The multi-part protector is made from stainless steel tubes with a diameter of 25 x 2 millimeters. An additional crossbar with 18 x 2 millimeters connects the two sides of the crash bar to provide extra rigidity.

The Crash Bars in Detail.
According to Touratech, modern CNC bending machines are used in the manufacturing process. This ensures that the construction precisely follows the silhouette of the Honda Africa Twin Adventure Sports. The weld seams are created using state-of-the-art welding robotics to ensure both high strength and a clean appearance.
The stainless steel surface is electropolished to achieve a silky shiny finish. Alternatively, Touratech also offers a black powder-coated version.
Tech-Plate as a Base for Accessories
A special feature of the Touratech fairing crash bar is the so-called Tech-Plate. This is a 3-millimeter thick plate made of black anodized aluminum, bolted between the tube segments.
The plate features several slots for securing straps, allowing it to be used as a mounting surface for accessories—such as bags, action cameras, or additional brackets. This not only expands the motorcycle's protection area but also enhances customization options.
