At the heart of the system is a robust 46 mm damper piston, equipped with an exceptionally low-friction piston band. This design ensures that the suspension is highly responsive to even the smallest bumps, delivering maximum comfort to the rider. Additionally, Touratech employs a separate piston with additional guidance for enhanced gliding properties and maximum stability, even under heavy loads and long distances.
Particularly innovative is the patented electronic DDA valve (Dynamic Damping Adjustment). It adjusts the damping in real-time to match the riding conditions, ensuring the GS is always perfectly tuned to the road or terrain. Another standout feature is the electronic spring preload, now integrated directly into the shock absorber. This eliminates the need for the previously common external pump, making installation significantly easier.
Touratech has also addressed thermal stresses: a two-part compensating reservoir with increased oil volume ensures consistent performance across a wide temperature range—an essential advantage for extreme tours or heavy loads. The individually adjustable compression damping in both high and low-speed ranges allows for a personalized setup tailored to riding style, luggage, and route profile.
