About a year after unveiling their first motocross motorcycles, the iconic brand presents its first sport enduros with two four-stroke models. While they share the same foundation as the MX bikes, these are purebred enduro machines, not just "crossers with a headlight." From the outset, the enduros were an integral part of the development concept for the sport off-roaders from England. Four-time Enduro World Champions Ivan Cervantes and Paul Edmondson played a crucial role in the development, aiming to create bikes that satisfy a wide range of riders—from hobbyists with no competitive ambitions to full-blooded racers at the highest level.

The Engines: Powerful All-Rounders

The powerplants of the TF 250-E and TF 450-E are uncompromisingly designed for enduro use. The 250 boasts 42.3 horsepower with 27.8 Nm of torque, aiming to deliver ample riding pleasure with a strong mid-range and high-revving nature in all situations. With 59.3 horsepower and 49.3 Nm, the 450 focuses on precise power delivery. The cylinder head, throttle body, ports, valves, ECU, and mappings are all tailored and tuned for off-road demands. The crankshafts have 30% and 34% more inertia compared to the MX bikes. König's forged pistons, despite high compression, have double the service interval at 90 operating hours compared to the MX models. Both machines feature a 6-speed gearbox and stainless steel exhaust systems with enduro tuning. Radiator fans are standard.

Chassis: Off-Road Optimized

The frame is the same as on the MX bikes, except for an additional handlebar lock and mounting flange for the side stand. However, with a 1cm shorter 48mm KYB fork and a 1cm longer swingarm compared to the MX bikes, the geometry is altered to ensure optimal handling for enduro riding. The steel springs are softer for increased comfort over rocks and roots, and the damping setup has been adjusted for enduro use. The 250 uses the same Neken triple clamps as its MX sibling, while the 450 has its own developed. Typical for enduro motorcycles, an 18-inch rear wheel is fitted, and the front is a 21-inch. Triumph is the first to equip these bikes stock with the new Michelin Enduro 2 tires. The final drive ratio is shorter at 13 to 51 compared to the MX models. The TF 250-E weighs in at 114.3 kg, while the TF 450-E tips the scales at 117 kg.

Premium Components of the Triumph Enduros

The components are of the highest quality, including brakes and a hydraulic clutch from Brembo, Galfer brake discs, and Pro Taper handlebars with odi Lock-On grips. Large 8.3-liter tanks ensure the necessary range. Powerful LEDs in the headlight mask and taillight provide ample illumination. Handguards, extensive enduro engine protection, and a multifunctional tachometer complete the package. The electronically switchable riding aids known from the crossers, such as launch control, quickshift function, traction control, and two mappings, are also specially tuned for enduro requirements. Optional accessories include Akrapovic slip-on mufflers, a seat lowered by 20 mm, linkage protection, and a WiFi module that allows you to pre-install an additional six mappings via the smartphone app.

Riding Impressions: Outstanding Overall Packages

Both machines impress with a very well-balanced chassis that offers nimble handling as well as stability on fast sections. Compared to the MX models, the altered geometry is noticeable but perfectly suited for off-road demands and special tests. The KYB suspension provides the rider with plenty of confidence, even though the fork on the TF 450-E is tuned a bit on the soft side. The 250 engine thrills with plenty of power and torque in the mid-range, allowing the TF 250-E to be easily and swiftly maneuvered through terrain and special tests. At the same time, you can hold gears longer and rev the engine high without losing thrust. The 450 engine is a very manageable powerhouse that won't overwhelm less experienced riders in the gentler mapping. The differences between the standard and the gentler mapping are noticeable but not too extreme. The softer mapping offers a more gradual and energy-saving power delivery, ideal for single trails and off-road, while the more aggressive mapping suits fast riding. Traction control can be engaged as needed, providing good support without overly restricting the rider. The quickshift function, intended to allow clutchless shifting under full load, doesn't work optimally in every riding situation, occasionally preventing gear changes during hard acceleration. However, the feature is fundamentally a good idea, and the criticism is more of a "high-level complaint." The ergonomics of the black enduros suit all body sizes, allowing smooth movement on the bikes. The installed components also function flawlessly.

Conclusion: Successful Debut

Triumph's entry into the sport enduro sector has been a success. Both models are purebred competition enduros that meet the demands of rocks, roots, ascents and descents, tight single trails, as well as fast special tests on meadows or with jumps and bumps. The TF 250-E and TF 450-E are likely to be top contenders in enduro sports right from the start. The TF 250-E is available in Germany for €10,995 plus additional costs, and in Austria for €11,295 including additional costs and NOVA. The TF 450-E is priced at €11,595 in Germany and €11,995 in Austria.

Triumph TF 450-E 2025 - Experiences and Expert Review

Busty Wolter

The TF 450-E presents itself as a powerful yet controllable enduro bike that impresses even seasoned riders. The gentle mapping, in particular, makes it manageable for less experienced riders. The chassis offers stability while maintaining agility. However, the suspension—especially the fork—is tuned a bit soft, which may reach its limits in tough sections. Nevertheless, it delivers a strong overall package with premium equipment and a professional presence.

Very well-tuned, powerful engine

Good ergonomics for different body sizes

Premium components and LED lighting

Two mapping options + traction control

Standard enduro setup including 18" rear wheel

Fork tuning slightly too soft for sporty enduro

Quickshift function not always reliable under full load

High list price (but justified given the equipment)
