Schuberth Concept with modern safety standards

The Schuberth Concept meets the current ECE-R 22.06 safety standard, which sets stricter requirements for protection and load-bearing capacity. In addition, the helmet is equipped with a P/J homologation, meaning it can be used as both a full-face and a jet helmet. This versatility allows the rider to flexibly decide, depending on the riding situation and weather conditions, whether the chin bar stays closed or is flipped up. Designed and handmade in Germany, the model offers thoughtful equipment for everyday use as well as longer tours.

A unique selling point is the UA homologation (Universal Accessory), which confirms that the helmet still meets the strict safety requirements even with a retrofitted communication system installed. This certification is a first in the industry and ensures that the helmet's protective function is not compromised by technical accessories such as intercom systems. This means the Concept continues the technical innovation of the Schuberth C5, which was the first flip-up helmet to receive ECE-R 22.06 homologation and was a pioneer in this field.

Two shell sizes and weight of the Schuberth Concept

Like the C5, the Schuberth Concept also relies on a fiberglass outer shell manufactured using the Direct Fiber Processing (DFP) process. This manufacturing technique ensures precise processing of the materials and high stability with comparatively low weight. The Schuberth Concept is available in two shell sizes (XS-L and XL-XXXL); in size L it weighs 1620 grams.

The outer shell is complemented by an EPS shell with two densities, enabling coordinated energy absorption in the event of an impact. The helmet also features the proven AROS system (Anti-Roll-Off-System), designed to prevent the helmet from unintentionally coming off the head in an accident.

Schuberth Concept flip-up helmet with thoughtful comfort

In addition to its safety features, Schuberth places great importance on comfort. The Concept is fitted with an OEKO-TEX® 100 certified interior lining that is skin-friendly and breathable. This material is designed to provide a pleasant wearing feel even on longer rides and to support efficient moisture regulation. Aerodynamic optimisation in the wind tunnel has also reduced noise development, which makes for a relaxed ride, especially over longer distances. The Concept should therefore have been designed as a quiet helmet, typical of Schuberth.

For optimal vision, Schuberth uses an optical class 1 visor that provides a distortion-free view of the surroundings; the Pinlock 70 visor comes pre-installed and ensures clear vision while riding. An integrated sun visor offers additional protection against strong light and can be operated with a simple mechanism. The micrometric ratchet closure system ensures precise adjustment to the individual head shape and a secure fit.

To ensure good ventilation, the helmet features large air vents with insect protection, enabling efficient air circulation. This provides improved fresh air supply, especially on warm days. In addition, both the outer shell and the interior lining were specifically designed to allow easy and secure integration of a communication system. Thanks to the UA homologation, it is ensured that a retrofitted intercom system does not compromise the helmet's protective function.

Schuberth Concept price, colours and availability

With the Concept, Schuberth builds on the experience gained with the C5 and brings to market a flip-up helmet that combines current safety standards with comfortable equipment. While the C5 has also proven itself in many 1000PS tests as a premium flip-up helmet for demanding touring riders, the Concept targets a broader audience that values quality but also a balanced price-performance ratio.

The new Schuberth Concept will be available exclusively at Louis from April, priced at 499 euros, in the solid colours white, silver and gloss black as well as matte black. For the decor called Tracer, available in blue, red, anthracite and yellow, you'll need to set aside 599 euros.

Further information on the available variants, technical specifications and accessory options can be found on the manufacturer's website at www.schuberth.com.

Conclusion: Schuberth Concept: Flip-up helmet 2025

The Concept brings Schuberth's C5 experience to a flip-up helmet positioned below the premium line and is available exclusively through a specialist retailer in the DACH region. As the first helmet on the market, it carries the ECE-R-22.06-UA homologation for retrofittable communication systems and can be ridden as both a full-face and a jet helmet thanks to the P/J approval. On long tours, the noise level stays pleasantly low at moderate speeds, especially behind a windscreen. The sun visor's mechanism runs smoothly and can be operated with gloves on, and the neutral tint level is sufficient for typical light conditions. The fit is typically Schuberth: neutral, rather narrow at the cheeks, without uncomfortable pressure points, and the interior lining softens up after a brief break-in period. Honestly, the sun visor is no substitute for a tinted main visor. For touring riders who want a quiet, versatile flip-up helmet with a genuine Schuberth fit for under 500 euros, the Concept is the right choice.
