Plug-and-Play for Schuberth Helmets

Anyone who owns a Schuberth C5 Carbon, E2 Carbon, C5, S3 or the new J2 can look forward to this: The SC EDGE was developed specifically for these helmets and, according to the manufacturer, can be installed particularly easily thanks to its plug-and-play principle. Speakers and antenna are already built into the compatible helmets, so no cumbersome retrofitting is required. The system is also ECE-R 22.06 SA homologated, which speaks to the highest safety standards.

Technology that convinces - SC EDGE

The SC EDGE is based on Cardo's proven PACKTALK EDGE and brings numerous features that enable simple and reliable communication while riding. According to the manufacturer, the system offers:

  • Second-generation Dynamic Mesh Communication (DMC) - for stable, interference-free group communication with a range of up to 1.6 km.
  • Bluetooth 5.2 – for reliable connection with smartphones, navigation devices and other communication partners.
  • Voice control via Natural Voice Operation - so hands can stay on the handlebars.
  • IPX5 certification - the system is, according to the manufacturer, waterproof and can withstand even heavy rain rides.
  • Future-proofing through over-the-air updates - software updates can be carried out wirelessly.

Schuberth + Cardo 2025: A Successful Partnership Renewed

The collaboration between Schuberth and Cardo Systems is nothing new: as far back as 2009, the two companies caused a stir with the SRC system - the world's first fully integrated helmet communication system. According to the manufacturer, the SC EDGE now marks the next stage of evolution and is set to once again become the benchmark in motorcycle communication.

The SC EDGE is expected to be available from authorized Schuberth dealers and online starting spring 2025. The official price has not yet been announced.

According to the manufacturer, riders can nonetheless look forward to a premium experience - seamless integration, powerful technology and easy operation are set to make the SC EDGE an indispensable companion for anyone who wants to stay connected on the road.

Conclusion: Cardo x Schuberth SC EDGE: Integrated Intercom

The SC EDGE sits flat and fits precisely into the prepared Schuberth models C5, S3, E2 and J2, because speakers and antenna are already built in at the factory. The unit is mounted in a few minutes and set up over the air via the app. The sound is powerful and loud enough even at highway speed, the mesh connection runs almost noise-free within the group and re-establishes itself automatically after dead zones. Honestly though, one thing stands out: the advertised range of up to 1.6 km only applies with a clear line of sight - in a world of twisties or between rock walls it drops noticeably. And it remains at Bluetooth 5.2 instead of the current standard. For Schuberth riders with compatible helmets, the SC EDGE is nevertheless the cleanest solution, because nothing needs to be retrofitted and the helmet keeps its slim shape.
