Useful updates for even more comfortable travel

Moto Guzzi has given its V85 TT an extensive update for the 2024 model year, with more power, electronics and features and the three different model variants Strada, TT and TT Travel. We have already been able to ride all three in Spain and can tell you how these sensible changes affect the mid-range cardan adventure bike.

The air-cooled V-twin was fitted with variable valves and knock sensors

The Moto Guzzi Enduro, known as the V85 TT, has quickly become a classic since its introduction in 2019. Its timeless design, featuring a distinctive twin headlight face and an air-cooled V-twin cylinder, has captured the hearts of Guzzi fans. The 853cc engine has been updated with variable valve timing, delivering 80 horsepower at 7,750 rpm and 83 Newton meters of torque at 5,100 rpm. Compliant with the Euro5 Plus standard, the engine now includes two knock sensors for improved performance and fuel tolerance. The new "face" of the V85 TT, with different cylinder head covers, enhances its appeal to riders exploring remote corners of the world.

For the first time with lean angle-dependent traction control and cornering ABS

Naturally, the modifications extend beyond just the engine. For the first time, the V85 is equipped with an IMU, a six-axis sensor box, enabling cornering ABS and lean angle-dependent traction control. The iconic tubular grille elements serving as pillion grips and lamp holders have been replaced with cast aluminum parts, while the redesigned tank prioritizes aerodynamics. This results in reduced turbulence in the upper body area, especially when combined with the new windshield - now easily adjustable by hand within a range of 70 millimeters or in five positions, even during long rides. Unlike its predecessor, which required tools for adjustment, the new model allows for both angle and height adjustments of the windshield.

The V85 is now available in the Strada, TT and TT Travel model variants

By the way, the TT Travel model comes with a taller touring screen and additional wind deflectors on the sides, making it suitable for long highway rides at the highest level of adventure biking. This leads us to the three different model variations. The Strada is the first V85 to feature cast aluminum wheels, contributing to a weight reduction of four kilograms. Along with the distinctive high mudguard, it also includes a small mudguard above the front wheel. Hand guards and underbody protection are not included as standard, nor are the off-road mode or the lean angle-dependent Advanced Rider Assistance Systems, which are available as optional extras. The TT model, with its classic red frame, eye-catching shock absorbers, and wire-spoke rims, comes with standard features such as cornering ABS, lean angle traction control, aluminum oil pan guard, and handguards. The shock preload can be adjusted using a convenient handwheel. In addition to all the features of the TT, the fully equipped TT Travel model also offers seat and grip heating as standard, along with a plastic luggage set providing 27.5 liters of storage on the left side and 37 liters on the right. It also includes smartphone connectivity, which is available as an optional extra on the other two versions. However, cruise control is a standard feature on all three model variants.

The same 5 inch TFT color display as the Stelvio or the V100 Mandello

The Moto Guzzi Enduro offers a full 80 horsepower in Road, Rain, Sport, and Offroad modes, each with unique characteristics in terms of responsiveness, power delivery, engine braking, traction control, and ABS settings. These differences are easily felt while riding and can be customized individually, with a personalized riding mode available in Travel mode. In Offroad mode, the ABS is automatically disabled at the rear wheel and can be manually turned off at the front wheel, showcasing the thorough work of Guzzi engineers. All information is conveniently displayed on the 5-inch TFT color screen (upgraded from 4.3 inches), also found on the Stelvio and V100 Mandello models. While the handlebar switches may not be as visually appealing as previous models, the menu navigation is intuitive and user-friendly, allowing riders to easily navigate through settings. Additionally, a practical lever is provided for quick mode changes.

Winding country roads make your heart beat faster in the saddle of the Guzzi

The seat height of 830 millimeters is quite moderate, providing comfort even on longer rides. When riding the V85 Enduro, it practically begs for extended journeys! The powerful engine exudes confidence, maintaining the distinctive Guzzi character and sound. On twisty country roads, such as those in the Almeria hinterland, the V85 feels right at home and surprisingly agile despite its weight of 230 kilos (or 226 for the Strada), a respectable figure considering its power. The only thing lacking is a quickshifter, which unfortunately is not available as an optional extra. However, the upgraded and now lighter Brembo brakes leave nothing to be desired, having already been top-notch on the previous model. Even rough, uneven roads pose no challenge for the Moto Guzzi, thanks to the decent suspension with 170 millimeters of travel at the front and rear, adjustable for both rebound and preload, effortlessly smoothing out bumps. Only with an extremely sporty riding style does the bike tend to feel a bit floaty, but overall it can be maneuvered with precision and playfulness through corners. While the Guzzi is capable of high speeds, it is best suited for leisurely cruising rather than aggressive riding.

Off-road with the V85 TT? As always, it's also a question of speed

The Moto Guzzi Enduro is capable of handling off-road and unpaved roads. However, the standing position may not be ideal for taller riders, as the road-oriented footrests provide minimal support. The weight and suspension travel also limit its versatility. Nevertheless, the bike can handle "enduro hiking" and dirt tracks with ease. With off-road ABS, riders can lock the rear wheel to navigate unpaved roads or tackle steep gravel descents. The standard tire choice for the TT model is the Michelin Anakee Adventure, offering a good balance between off-road performance and on-road grip. Riders can opt for larger tires, such as the Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR, for even more off-road capability. The Strada and TT Travel models come equipped with Dunlop Trailmax Meridian tires, providing excellent grip even when pushing the bike to its limits.

Prices and color variants of the three V85 models from Moto Guzzi

The availability, colors, and prices of the new Moto Guzzi Enduro models are as follows. The Strada model, available in black or grey, will cost 12,999 euros, the TT model comes in chic red-white-black or silver-white-black and is priced at 13,999 euros, and the TT Travel model, available in the color "Bronzo Desserts", a beige metallic shade, will be priced at 14,999 euros. The TT Travel model offers added value with only a 1000 euro surcharge for luxurious additional features. However, for those who do not need heated seats or prefer a different luggage solution, the TT model can be upgraded accordingly. With a total of 39 accessories available from the factory, there are plenty of options for customizing your Moto Guzzi.

Moto Guzzi V85 TT 2024 - Experiences and Expert Review

wolf

Do owners of an older V85 TT now have to switch? Of course not, but the extensive changes for the 2024 model year were sensible, the engine looks a little more "grown-up" and the lean angle-dependent Advanced Rider Assistance Systems are beneficial to riding safety. All in all, the classically beautiful Moto Guzzi V85 TT - or Strada and TT Travel - is still a wonderful touring motorcycle that feels most at home on the road and is made for relaxed cruising, although it can also take corners with real agility and of course also masters easier off-road passages. All this, combined with its iconic appearance and the unique selling point in its vehicle class of a low-maintenance cardan transmission, make it a real alternative in the mid-range enduro and adventure touring segment.
