EICMA 2026 preview: these new bikes are coming in 2027
From A1 naked to 190 hp touring machine
Which bikes can we expect in 2027? From BMW and Honda to KTM and CFMOTO: we show the models already known, analyse the manufacturers' teasers and reveal what surprises are possible at EICMA in Milan.
EICMA 2026 preview: these new bikes are coming in 2027
EICMA in Milan is just around the corner and the motorcycle industry is gearing up for the 2027 model year. There are already plenty of new models, as well as some exciting teasers.
EICMA 2026: dates, opening hours and information
From 3 to 8 November 2026, Fiera Milano Rho will once again become the centre of the motorcycle world. The 83rd edition of the international two-wheeler show kicks off on Tuesday, 3 November, with the press day. On Wednesday, 4 November, the show is open to trade visitors and media representatives. The general public can enter the halls from Thursday, 5 November, to Sunday, 8 November, from 9:30 am to 6:30 pm each day. Alongside the model premieres, we can once again expect plenty of new accessories, technology trends and the MotoLive programme.
1000PS will be on site with 20 people, reporting in several languages straight from Milan. We'll show you the new models in detailed show walkarounds, take a close look at the various motorcycle segments and keep a sharp eye on the Chinese manufacturers and unusual concepts too.
But which bikes are already confirmed and where is there still speculation? Together with Christoph Horvath, I've taken a look at the most important announcements and rumours. One thing's for sure: we won't get bored in Milan.
New BMW models for 2027: one surprise and two small sportbikes
BMW is keeping us guessing a little ahead of EICMA. Under the slogan "The benchmark is about to get uncomfortable", the Bavarians have teased a new bike. The silhouette strongly resembles a powerful naked bike from the S 1000 R family. The thing is: both the S 1000 R and the M 1000 R have already been announced for 2027.
So what could be behind it? A special edition? An even sportier variant? An M 1000 R Clubsport would be conceivable, but nothing is confirmed. And let's be honest: anyone who gets off a current M 1000 R wishing for more power probably has a very special relationship with common sense anyway.
Things get more concrete with the smaller BMW models. With the BMW F 450 R and F 450 RR, BMW is expanding its 450 platform with a naked bike and a supersports bike. The fully faired RR in particular is already sparking debate. Its central headlight reminds me of the old KTM RC8, while the winglets certainly raise the question of how much aerodynamics an A2 bike really needs.
Also on my personal wish list is the BMW R 20. The concept was already on display at our Newchurch Summit. Last year, BMW boss Markus Flasch announced that we wouldn't have to wait too much longer for the bike. If the production version is missing again, I'll be asking questions.
New Benda models for 2027: V4 cruiser and unusual concepts
For me, Benda is one of those motorcycle manufacturers whose stand is almost always worth an early visit. The Chinese dare to do things other brands shy away from.
The centrepiece is likely to be the V4 cruiser 950 from the Dark Flag family, already presented last year. The bike with around 950 cc is said to produce 109 hp.
The value for money would certainly be remarkable. With 109 hp, Benda is moving in a performance class otherwise occupied by established cruiser manufacturers.
Even more unusual is the hybrid concept already shown, with a small boxer engine and electric assistance. I was told around 250 cc and a targeted system output of approximately 70 hp. Whether, and in what form, a production bike will result from it remains open.
New CFMOTO models for 2027: the V4 supersports bike takes shape
One of the most interesting new models of EICMA 2026 could be on the CFMOTO stand. Last year, the manufacturer presented a spectacular V4 supersports concept with movable winglets.
Talking to CFMOTO's chief designer back then, I asked the question that always comes up with such studies: how much of the exciting concept will ultimately survive into series production?
His answer was promising. I should see for myself in Milan how well the transfer had worked. A teaser released since then does indeed suggest a much more production-ready version.
CFMOTO could also follow up with a 550 MT-X. A corresponding hint has already appeared on social media. The positioning relative to the successful 450 MT will be particularly interesting. Is the 550 meant to replace it or extend the adventure bike range upwards?
A scooter and further vehicles from the ATV and UTV segment have also been teased.
New Ducati models for 2027: Panigale, Multistrada and more premieres
Ducati has already unveiled several new models for 2027 ahead of EICMA. What surprised me most was yet another update of the Panigale V4. After all, the current generation hasn't been on the market for very long.
Nevertheless, Ducati has already followed up: more power, additional electronics and even more striking aerodynamics with stacked winglets.
A lot has happened with the smaller sporty models too. Ducati is further expanding the 450 platform, including a supermoto, an enduro and an updated MX450. On top of that come new variants of the Multistrada V4, including the Grand Tour and Pikes Peak.
But that's probably not all. Ducati is continuing its World Premiere series and has scheduled its own event for the Monday evening before EICMA.
As an Italian manufacturer, Ducati is hardly going to want to tackle its home show without further news. What exactly that will be, we'll only find out after the official presentations.
Harley-Davidson Sprint 440: getting in gets cheaper
A Harley-Davidson with a single-cylinder engine? For die-hard fans of the brand, probably as alien a thought as a bike without a V-twin is for some Guzzi riders.
Still, much suggests that Harley-Davidson wants to bring a more compact cruiser to Europe with the Sprint 440. Technically, it's linked to the 440 models already developed in India together with Hero.
The exciting question is whether such a bike can deliver the traditional Harley feeling and how Harley-Davidson intends to position its brand in the future.
On the one hand, there's a comparatively affordable single-cylinder machine from India. On the other, the company sells lavishly equipped CVO models for 70,000 euros and more.
That's quite a balancing act, but it could be necessary to reach a younger audience. Even the current Nightster already costs 11,200 euros in Germany. For many new riders, that's a considerable hurdle.
I don't really expect any other major Harley new models at EICMA, as the Americans traditionally hold their most important model launches at the start of the year.
New Honda models for 2027: new Africa Twin and V3 engine?
Honda is where things get particularly interesting. Under the slogan "A new adventure is coming", the manufacturer has announced a previously unknown adventure bike.
My guess: the Honda Africa Twin is about to get a major overhaul.
The current 1100 generation was unveiled back in 2019 and hit the market in 2020. Since then, Honda has developed it further with numerous updates and trim variants.
I sold my Africa Twin this year, so I know its strengths and weaknesses well. The engine, the DCT gearbox and the electronic suspension options work superbly. When it comes to operation, however, I still see room for improvement.
The touchscreen display with Apple CarPlay was a fine thing. The associated switchgear on the left handlebar, however, felt as if it had survived several model generations.
If Honda really does unveil a new Africa Twin, I'm particularly curious whether the Japanese will address this point and how they'll differentiate between road-oriented and off-road-capable variants in the future.
There's also a joint press conference by Honda and airbag specialist In&motion on the agenda. Whether this will result in new safety solutions for bikes or riders remains to be seen.
Another topic is the already shown Honda V3 engine with electric forced induction. Following the presentation of the powertrain concept and a bike, a further development stage could follow. There's no production announcement yet, though.
Also already known are the CBR500R Four with its small four-cylinder engine and updates to the CBR600RR. Whether more compact four-cylinder models will also come to Europe remains open.
New Kawasaki models for 2027: Versys 900 and the return of the Ninja H2
Kawasaki has one of my personal highlights of the 2027 model year so far: the Kawasaki Versys 900.
The bike combines the familiar four-cylinder engine of the Z900 with a touring-oriented concept. Exactly this has been missing from the Kawasaki line-up so far. The big Versys 1100 is an excellent touring bike, but also a massive presence. The Versys 900 could strike a good balance between sporty handling, wind protection and touring capability.
I see it as a direct rival to the Yamaha Tracer 9 and Triumph Tiger Sport 800. Whether Kawasaki has put together the more coherent overall package will have to be shown by a ride test. Either way, I really like the starting point.
In addition, the return of the road-legal Kawasaki Ninja H2 has been announced. While the extreme H2R remained available to order, a version for public roads is now set to return.
The KLE 650 also expands the adventure range. It relies on proven twin-cylinder technology and is likely to win people over with reliability rather than spectacular performance figures.
Kawasaki has also worked on the suspension and brakes of the Ninja 650. In my view, that's exactly where the previous model's main weaknesses lay.
The four-legged mobility concept Corleo, which Kawasaki also plans to bring to Milan, is likely to draw extra attention.
New KTM models for 2027: 190 hp for touring
KTM is returning to EICMA and has already announced most of its line-up.
For me, the key bike is clearly the KTM 1390 Super Duke GT. I've been waiting for its production version ever since I rode the first prototype in 2024.
190 hp in a touring bike with panniers: that sounds like a rather idiosyncratic definition of relaxed touring.
On top of that comes an 8.8-inch display with navigation capability. The combination of a powerful V-twin, extensive electronics and touring equipment could make the Super Duke GT a particularly interesting sport touring bike. A better-equipped GT Evo has also been announced, with the automated AMT shift system playing a role.
KTM is also improving the 390 Adventure models. Among other things, cruise control functions and additional TFT features come into play.
Cruise control in the A2 adventure bike class in particular is by no means a given. KTM is thus closing a features gap that still exists with some competitors.
New Moto Guzzi models for 2027: The Trip 500 brings a breath of fresh air
Moto Guzzi has announced a new A2 bike called The Trip 500. I'm not quite convinced by the name yet, but I find the bike's concept interesting.
The styling carries clearly recognisable Moto Guzzi traits, but looks considerably more modern than the traditional V7. Technically, there are noticeable parallels to the Aprilia Tuono 457. That would be a promising base, as its engine impressed us in this year's tests.
A small Moto Guzzi could thus become much more accessible than the characterful V7, which isn't always straightforward for beginners. Of course, some Guzzi traditionalists will miss a classic V-twin. But just as with the Harley Sprint 440, the question is how a brand steeped in tradition can win over new buyers.
The new 500 could be a sensible answer to that.
New Suzuki models for 2027: a sporty mystery
Suzuki is keeping remarkably quiet ahead of EICMA. A teaser with the slogan "Serious fun starts here" shows a bike that, in our estimation, could be heading in the supersports direction. A high tail section and the visible fairing elements argue against an adventure bike or a classic naked bike. Which model is hiding behind it, however, we don't know.
New Triumph models for 2027: more displacement for the Street Triple?
Triumph is one of the manufacturers that announced its new model programme for 2027 relatively far in advance.
I'm particularly excited about the Street Triple 798. The new displacement class is linked to changes in the Moto2 regulations. For me, the previous Street Triple 765 is one of the most convincing sporty naked bikes. The engine has plenty of pulling power, the chassis works superbly and the overall package is exceptionally well balanced.
The crucial question is therefore: what does Triumph even want to improve?
A more powerful engine would be one possible answer. However, no concrete performance figures were given in the livestream discussed.
Updates to the Bonneville T120 and Tiger 1200 have also been announced or already unveiled. Further information on the Tiger 900 is only planned for later in the year. Also interesting is the new design language with central headlights and separate LED daytime running lights, which runs across several model families.
New Yamaha models for 2027: what's behind the cryptic teasers?
Yamaha is making it particularly hard for us this year. The released teasers show, among other things, red light pulses and cryptic messages. So far, it's impossible to clearly link them to a specific bike.
My personal wish would be the return of the big four-cylinder. Since the road-legal R1 disappeared from the European line-up, Yamaha has lacked a corresponding flagship. A new MT-10 would also be interesting. Whether the upcoming new MotoGP regulations are already influencing future production models can't yet be judged.
A big Ténéré with the familiar CP3 three-cylinder seems less likely to me. Last year, Yamaha Europe boss Olivier Prévost told me in an interview that this engine is structurally too wide to be used sensibly in an enduro.
Aside from the still unknown new models, Yamaha has announced new colour options. I particularly like the XSR900 in its eye-catching retro colour scheme with white, pink and blue.
Royal Enfield Himalayan 750: is the big adventure bike coming?
Another bike we expect at EICMA is the Royal Enfield Himalayan 750. Spy shots of a bike that already looks fairly production-ready have been circulating for quite some time.
The engine question will be particularly exciting. Will Royal Enfield rely on a further development of the familiar air/oil-cooled 650 twin, or will there be a new, possibly water-cooled design? That will largely determine how the big Himalayan could be positioned.
A classic, more touring-oriented adventure bike would be just as conceivable as a technically more modern adventure machine. There's no definitive answer yet.
More EICMA new models for 2027: Benelli, Beta, Kove and ZXMOTO
Interesting bikes are also on the horizon away from the established manufacturers.
At Benelli, there are hints of a TRK Explorer, possibly as a further development of the larger TRK platform already shown.
Kove showed a Rally 350 at the Chinese CIMA. Whether the bike will come to Europe is still open. With the 450 Rally, the brand already has a model in a similar class.
Beta is also said to be showing a new touring bike. No more concrete technical information on it is available from our livestream yet.
At ZXMOTO, an adventure bike with a four-cylinder engine is particularly interesting. Based on an already known 820 engine, an output of possibly around 130 hp is on the table. That would be a remarkable combination for this segment.
Zontes could expand its platform around the 703 three-cylinder. Various vehicle concepts with this powertrain have already been shown. What will actually be on display at EICMA 2026 is still open.
Conclusion: the EICMA 2026 new bikes I'm most interested in
If I had to commit to a few favourites before the show, the Kawasaki Versys 900, the KTM 1390 Super Duke GT and the possible new Honda Africa Twin would be high on my list.
At BMW, I finally want to know what's happening with the R 20. At CFMOTO, I'm interested in how much of the extraordinary V4 concept the production version actually adopts. And at Yamaha, I hope there's more behind the teasers than just another colour option.
What stands out in general is how broad the Chinese manufacturers' model offensive has become. Benda, CFMOTO, ZXMOTO and Kove are long past just offering cheap alternatives to established models. They're developing their own concepts, new engines and technically interesting solutions.
Whether that results in good bikes remains to be seen in the first tests. But the established manufacturers won't be able to ignore this development.
1000PS will be at EICMA 2026 with around 20 people. We'll report in several languages straight from Milan, show new models by segment and also look at those models that are easily overlooked away from the big press conferences. Because, in our experience, the most exciting new model isn't always on the biggest stage.
