Chigee AIO-6 Motorcycle Navigation Display Review & Test
Android Auto & Apple CarPlay on Any Motorcycle
With the AIO-5 Play, Chigee filled a gap for BMW riders looking to retrofit Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The new Chigee AIO-6 takes it a step further: it not only offers better hardware and new software but is also compatible with a variety of mounting systems for motorcycles of nearly all brands. We've put this new multifunction display to the test.
In January, we tested the Chigee AIO-5 Play, which was specifically designed for BMW motorcycles, on Gran Canaria. Just a bit later in March, during our winter getaway to Barcelona, we were already riding with a pre-production prototype of the new Chigee AIO-6. The new multifunction display was put through its paces over two weeks in varying conditions.
Chigee AIO-6 Review - Durable and High-Quality Hardware for Any Motorcycle
The Chigee AIO-6 features a 6-inch anti-glare IPS display with a 1280x720 pixel resolution, which remains highly readable even in direct sunlight. Its maximum brightness reaches an impressive 2300 nits. The robust magnesium-aluminum housing is IP69K-certified, making it resilient against heavy rain, something we unfortunately had to test multiple times during our stay in Spain. The device also includes integrated GPS and various sensors (light, acceleration, microphone) that are essential for its wide range of functions.
The power supply is via a 1218 V DC connection, and the device can be operated using both the touchscreen and four large, glove-friendly physical buttons. There are numerous mounting options for the AIO-6, including handlebar mounts, ball joints, quick releases, or crossbar mounts. Particularly interesting for BMW riders: an optional adapter allows integration into the original BMW navigation setup with the Wonder Wheel. However, these mounting options must be ordered separately.
Feature-Rich with Android Auto & Apple CarPlay - Chigee AIO-6 Review
The standout feature of the AIO-6 remains its seamless, stable, and wireless integration of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. In practice, this means navigation, music, messages, and calls can be managed as effortlessly as in a car. The connection with the smartphone is fast and reliableboth during the initial pairing and subsequent reconnections.
Thanks to the new CG OS 2 operating system, the system runs even more smoothly. Switching between apps and menus happens without delay. A Dual-Core A53 processor combined with 4 GB of RAM ensures consistent performance. Additionally, the system now offers split-screen views and a clearly structured, motorcycle-optimized user interface.
Chigee AIO-6 Vehicle Integration – Optional with BMW, Universal with Mount
As already mentioned, the AIO-6 works out of the box with various universal mounts for motorcycles of all brands, as well as with the original BMW navigation mount, allowing the device to be controlled via BMW handlebar controls. It also gains access to a wealth of vehicle data. Even if you don't ride a BMW, the AIO-6 can display a wide range of live vehicle data via an optional OBD interface or CGRC-LIN module, regardless of the brand.
- Oil Temperature
- Tire Pressure and Temperature
- Trip Data
- Lean Angle
- RPM
- Speed
These parameters are directly sourced from the motorcycle depending on the setup and displayed in various, partially customizable layouts on the display.
Design, Feel & Operation of the Chigee AIO-6 on the Motorcycle
In terms of feel and practical operation, the AIO-6 doesn't disappoint. The device clicks securely into the quick-release mount and can be removed with a single hand at the end of a ride. Operating it via the optional BMW Wonder Wheel is as reliable as using the touchscreen and the four large hardware buttonseven with thick gloves. The high brightness ensures good readability, even in direct sunlight. However, the font size can vary depending on the app displayed via Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, sometimes appearing quite small. This isn't an issue for riders with sharp vision but might be challenging for those with less acute eyesight. Chigee's own menus and displays do not have this issue; however, they can be somewhat cluttered with information depending on the layout. With some time spent using the AIO-6, your eyes naturally and swiftly locate the data you seek.
Expandability & Accessories – The Modular Chigee System
A major strength of the AIO-6 is its tremendous expandability. Chigee has developed a modular ecosystem that extends the device far beyond mere smartphone mirroring. Numerous optional components and features are available, making the AIO-6 the central control and information hub of the motorcycle.
- CG Quick Mount - Portable solution for easy removal (Theft Protection)
- BMW Quick Mount - For integration with Nav-Prep and Wonder Wheel
- Dashcam Extension with HDR - Record rides, security monitoring
- BSD System (Blind Spot Detection) - Blind spot warning system with precise sensors
- LTE Module - Real-time motorcycle tracking via smartphone
- TPMS Kits (internal/external) - Live tire pressure and temperature monitoring
- Remote Control Pro (wireless, 2.4 GHz) - Control with gloves without wiring
- Camera Integration for Insta360 & GoPro - Live preview and control via the AIO display
- TF Card Slot - Storage expansion up to 256 GB
The great advantage of this wide range of options and features is that as a motorcycle owner, you are no longer dependent on the bike's manufacturer to implement certain technologies on your model. For instance, if you want a blind spot monitor on your bikea feature previously reserved for high-end touring motorcyclesyou can now retrofit it relatively easily with the Chigee AIO-6.
Chigee AIO-6 Practical Impressions & Critique
The AIO-6 consistently demonstrated its reliability in testing. The wireless connection with the smartphone was seamless, and navigation via Google Maps or other apps worked as smoothly as streaming music. Even in changing weather conditions or under vibrations, the device operated reliably and steadily.
The biggest advancement remains the even simpler integration of Android Auto and Apple CarPlaytransforming the motorcycle into a true multimedia platform, just like in a car. The fact that the AIO-6 is platform-independent makes it even more appealing for riders of various brands.
One minor criticism remains: the included manuals for our pre-production unit were quite brief. Whether this is also the case for the production model cannot be conclusively determined at this time.
Chigee AIO-6 Price & Variants
The Chigee AIO-6 is available in two variants: AIO-6 Max Smart Riding Display at €417.95 and AIO-6 LTE 4G Smart Riding Display at €508.95 MSRP. This entry price is even lower than its predecessor's, despite significantly improved technology. However, depending on the chosen accessories, the total price can and will increase.
Conclusion on the Chigee AIO-6
The Chigee AIO-6 is a well-designed, high-quality, and universally applicable navigation system that can be used excellently with or without BMW integration. Its powerful hardware, brilliant display, new operating system, and wide range of optional features make it a genuine recommendation for motorcyclists of all brands looking to enhance the technical features of their ride.
For those looking to get the most out of navigation, smartphone connectivity, riding data, and multimedia on their motorcycle, the AIO-6 offers a sophisticated control center.
