Model Yamaha MT-09 nebylo třeba pro nadcházející sezónu znovu vymýšlet - už před téměř čtyřmi lety byl velmi dobře zpracován. Místo toho se Japonci zaměřili na doladění a přidání praktických, moderních vychytávek, jako je kontrola trakce a automatické řazení. Kvůli normě Euro4 se však opět změnilo řízení motoru, které ve standardním režimu nabízí důrazně silný, ale dobře kontrolovatelný průběh výkonu; výkonovou explozi první generace nyní už nenabízí ani ostřejší režim A. Naopak, motor se v tomto režimu může pochlubit výkonem, který je v tomto případě vyšší než v první generaci. Největší změnou, rozpoznatelnou na první pohled, je podle mého názoru mimořádně zdařilý design s agresivnější přídí a nově řešenou zádí. Celkově jde o ještě svižnější naháč, který byl jednoznačně postaven pro radost z jízdy na motocyklu.

Nová GSX-S1000 je z hlediska základní konstrukce starým známým - motor a podvozek zůstaly z předchůdce. Stroj byl však v mnoha oblastech modernizován a prezentuje se na mimořádně vysoké úrovni, zejména po vizuální stránce. Motor sice nemůže konkurovat v lize supersilných Hyper Nakedů, ale funguje velmi harmonicky a dostatečně výkonně. Také konvenční podvozek představuje zdařilý kompromis mezi sportovním charakterem a komfortem. Argumenty kladiva jsou rozhodně zdařilý design, standardní quickshifter s blipperem a v neposlední řadě relativně nízká cena.
