Neměli byste ho podceňovat, ale ani byste od něj neměli očekávat příliš mnoho. Pokud to budete mít na paměti, užijete si s ním spoustu zábavy i na nepříliš rychlé závodní trati. (Na silnici by jich však pak nemělo být příliš mnoho tisíc.) Lehce se ovládá jako moped, ale už je stejně silný jako nejeden funkční motocykl o objemu 600 ccm z posledních 10 let.

Je neuvěřitelné, jak kultivovaně KTM vyvinula jednoválec, aniž by obětovala výkon. Za geniální počin lze považovat, že v rámci normy EURO4 se podařilo zvýšit kulturu chodu motoru při současném zvýšení výkonu. Plochá křivka točivého momentu je zodpovědná za plynulý a výkonný pohon. Od 4000 otáček Duke tvrdě tlačí a točí až do 8500 otáček. Ani v nízkých otáčkách motor nezadrhává a nehltá, což je ve městě výhoda. Největší předností Duka je kromě jízdních vlastností jeho ovladatelnost, a proto ho lze směle označit za hračku. Teprve když se ocitnete na závodním okruhu a tvrdě zaútočíte, budete si přát mít pod zadkem "R".
