KTM 300 EXC 2016

The "big" two-stroke engine was newly developed in 2017 and is used on the 250 and 300. The electric starter is no longer "flange-mounted" but compactly integrated. Professionals have said that the 300 is actually too powerful for them. For me, however, it is THE 2-stroke recommendation, especially for hobby riders. With the map selector, you can choose the "mild" mapping here and also fall back on the weaker spring for the exhaust control. In practice, you can ride it in a gear higher than the 250 and it becomes quite tame. The new balancer shaft offers a big plus in ride comfort: significantly less vibration!

High performance in combination with lively handling

simple design - thus hardest to handle under extreme loads

lower vibrations due to new motor with balancer shaft

Compared to the four-stroke, still more strenuous to drive on long stages

engine response "good" but just not as clean as with the four-stroke

Husqvarna TE 300 2016

Husqvarna TE 300 2016

Completely new engine for 2017! Lighter and quieter thanks to the balancer shaft, the two-stroke has also been lightened, with the 300 now weighing in at 102 kg. The choice for Erzberg, Romaniacs and Co!

Much quieter due to balancer shaft

powerful engine

best balance of weight and performance

I would prefer a four-stroke on smooth and easy tracks
