Overview - KTM 1090 Adventure R 2017 vs KTM 1050 Adventure 2015

The KTM 1090 Adventure R 2017 and the KTM 1050 Adventure 2015 are both enduro motorcycles with similar technical specifications. However, there are some notable differences between the two models.

Starting with the strengths of the KTM 1090 Adventure R 2017, it boasts a powerful sporty engine with 125 HP and 109 Nm of torque. This provides excellent acceleration and power for both on-road and off-road riding. The bike also offers practical modes for on-road and off-road, allowing riders to easily regulate traction control and peak power according to their needs. The chassis of the 1090 Adventure R is robust and off-road compatible, making it suitable for more adventurous riding. Additionally, KTM offers a wide range of accessories and equipment options for this model, allowing riders to customize and enhance their riding experience.

On the other hand, the KTM 1050 Adventure 2015 also has its own set of strengths. It features a powerful and cultivated engine with 95 HP and 107 Nm of torque. The bike offers disengageable ABS and adjustable traction control, providing riders with more control and safety on the road. The 1050 Adventure also has agile handling and adjustable ergonomics, allowing riders to find their preferred riding position. The bike has a prestigious look similar to its larger siblings and comes with a height-adjustable windshield. Furthermore, the 1050 Adventure is relatively lightweight and comes at an affordable price compared to other adventure bikes.

Moving on to the weaknesses of the KTM 1090 Adventure R 2017, one notable drawback is its seat height. The seat height is quite high, and riders with a body height of at least 180 cm are recommended. This can be a disadvantage for shorter riders or those who prefer a lower seat height. Additionally, some riders may find the engine response to be a little too sporty on long trips, and the bike may feel sluggish at low speeds.

As for the weaknesses of the KTM 1050 Adventure 2015, one drawback is that the rev limiter already kicks in at 8500 revs. This can limit the bike's top speed and may be a disadvantage for riders who enjoy high-speed riding. Additionally, the wind protection on the 1050 Adventure is not optimal, which can result in less comfort and more wind resistance at higher speeds.

In conclusion, the KTM 1090 Adventure R 2017 and the KTM 1050 Adventure 2015 are both capable enduro motorcycles with their own strengths and weaknesses. The 1090 Adventure R offers a more powerful engine, practical modes, and a robust chassis, while the 1050 Adventure provides a cultivated engine, adjustable features, and a more affordable price. Riders should consider their specific needs and preferences when choosing between these two models.

KTM 1090 Adventure R 2017

KTM 1090 Adventure R 2017

That's exactly how a KTM should be. It feels sporty, but also offers a lot of comfort. Off-road, it was robust, reliable and fast. The chassis does everything, the braking as well. The electronic riding aids enable completely new sections for this weight class. If it weren't for the enormous seat height, it would be a terrific tip for many enduro riders.

KTM 1050 Adventure 2015

The KTM 1050 Adventure picks up where the 990 Adventure left off a few years ago: Around 100 hp of power, playful handling and as much or as little electronics as is currently state-of-the-art. The engine is anything but weak, ABS and traction control regulate safely and inconspicuously and the handling is extremely fun-oriented, partly because of the relatively narrow tyres. And all this at a price that is only undercut by a few competitors in the league of big touring enduros. Sad as it may be, the two 1190 Adventures and, above all, the flagship 1290 Super Adventure, have soared in price to very high levels. And that is precisely why the KTM 1050 Adventure is perhaps the most coherent of the four Adventure models.
