As a newcomer to electric motorcycles, the initial surprise came quickly - the fast and straightforward start. After hopping on, pressing the start button, and gazing at the modern TFT color display, I had to turn to my colleague with a puzzled look. "What now?" "Now you just take off!" I did, swiftly and silently, with a grin of disbelief. There was no doubt that the LiveWire Naked Bike accelerates from 0 to 100 in 3 seconds. I have to admit that initially, moving without the vibrations of an engine and its distinctive roar was unsettling. Approaching this test with the expectation of a similar experience to traditional motorbikes on the S2 Del Mar would have been the wrong approach. However, that doesn't make the ride any less thrilling. Personally, it felt almost more playful - I couldn't help but think of the movie "Tron" and its futuristic bikes while accelerating. The absence of gears may feel strange at first, but it became a non-issue for me after the first day's ride on the LiveWire. Having experienced both worlds, the gasoline-powered and the electrified one, brings about many impressions and contrasts. Just like with cars, the choice of propulsion is purely a matter of preference and priorities. While I have always enjoyed driving manual cars, I also appreciate every ride in an automatic vehicle. If you overlook the crucial aspect of the "environment" when purchasing a motorcycle, the following factors are typically important: performance, chassis, brakes, range, charging/consumption, and equipment. The LiveWire Naked Bike excels in all these aspects - so let's delve into the specifics!

On the LiveWire S2 del Mar, you should always have all your senses together!
18,000 euros is a substantial amount to invest, especially for younger riders looking to spend their savings wisely. But does the LiveWire Naked Bike offer enough features to justify its price tag? If you're looking to announce your arrival three kilometers before reaching the biker parking lot or disrupt your neighbors' afternoon nap, this might not be the bike for you. However, it does make it easier to startle focused cyclists or pedestrians when passing by (at a safe distance, of course). All jokes aside, the LiveWire Naked Bike is remarkably quiet, making it difficult to ignore the sounds of the surroundings. This also means that you might be easily overlooked or unheard, so it's important to stay alert at all times!
Refueling" the S2 del Mar is much less work than expecte
With a peak output of 84 hp and a maximum speed of 163 km/h, the LiveWire Naked Bike never fails to impress - the acceleration alone can bring out a euphoric "Woohooo" from even the most seasoned rider. The absence of gear shifting as a requirement makes it a hit among riders, showcasing its true potential, even if traditional bikers may initially be hesitant. Equipped with a charging cable, the LiveWire Naked Bike can go from 0 to 100% battery in just 8.4 hours. Need a quicker charge? 60% can be achieved in just 6 hours. While these numbers may seem daunting to those used to speedy refueling, it's important to remember that most riders have easy access to a power outlet and charging stations are becoming more prevalent. Charging the bike overnight, during a leisurely brunch, or while at work is much simpler than one might think. As mentioned before, it all comes down to personal preference and priorities.
What range can you expect from the LiveWire S2 del Mar in everyday use?
When it comes to the LiveWire Naked Bike, the range on a full charge is approximately 180 km in city riding and around 140 km when combining city and country riding. After testing out the different riding modes daily, it is clear that there is no need to constantly search for charging stations. You can enjoy a relaxed day trip without any concerns. Just be cautious when the battery level drops to the last few percentages, as it depletes quickly - so avoid relying on the last 5% and twisting the throttle aggressively.
A thoroughly superior package!
The LiveWire Naked Bike features a chassis adorned with top-notch components from Brembo and Showa, along with two 19-inch tires. The adjustable cartridge-USD fork and monoshock suspension strut deliver exceptional performance. The braking system is reliable and efficient. The smaller S2 Del Mar has everything you would expect from an urban electric motorcycle: style, easy handling and a range suitable for everyday use. In sport mode, however, it shows what an electric drive is all about and catapults the rider right to the front. The del Mar is therefore a good choice for anyone who is interested in electromobility but doesn't want to give up the feeling of a motorcycle. A really cool commuter vehicle that is also fun when cornering!
