Overview - Ducati Streetfighter 2009 vs Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS 2021

The Ducati Streetfighter 2009 and the Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS 2021 are both naked bikes that offer a thrilling riding experience. However, there are several key differences between the two models.

In terms of engine power, the Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS 2021 takes the lead with 180 HP, compared to the Ducati Streetfighter 2009's 155 HP. This extra power gives the Triumph an advantage in terms of acceleration and top speed. Additionally, the Speed Triple has a higher torque of 125 Nm, compared to the Streetfighter's 115 Nm. This means that the Triumph will have stronger low-end and mid-range power, resulting in quicker acceleration.

The engine configurations also differ between the two models. The Ducati Streetfighter 2009 has a 2-cylinder engine, while the Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS 2021 boasts a 3-cylinder engine. The additional cylinder in the Triumph provides smoother power delivery and a unique engine note.

Both bikes feature liquid cooling systems to ensure optimal engine temperature. This is important for maintaining performance and reliability, especially during long rides or in hot weather conditions.

In terms of suspension, both bikes are equipped with upside-down telescopic forks at the front. However, the Ducati Streetfighter 2009 features Showa suspension components, while the Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS 2021 boasts Öhlins suspension. Öhlins is known for its high-quality and performance-oriented suspension systems, providing superior handling and comfort compared to Showa.

The chassis construction also differs between the two models. The Ducati Streetfighter 2009 has a steel frame, while the Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS 2021 features an aluminum frame. Aluminum frames are typically lighter and offer better rigidity, resulting in improved handling and maneuverability.

Both bikes are equipped with Brembo brakes with four pistons at the front, utilizing radial, monoblock technology. This ensures excellent stopping power and precise braking performance. However, it is worth noting that some riders have reported squeaky brakes on the Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS 2021.

In terms of dimensions, the Ducati Streetfighter 2009 has a slightly longer wheelbase of 1475 mm, compared to the Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS 2021's 1445 mm. A longer wheelbase can provide more stability at high speeds, while a shorter wheelbase can enhance maneuverability and agility.

When it comes to strengths, the Ducati Streetfighter 2009 is praised for its powerful engine, good brakes, comfortable seating position, precise chassis, and distinctive look. On the other hand, the Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS 2021 is highly regarded for its versatility, rev-happy and powerful engine, top quickshifter, light and compact ride, stable handling, strong brakes, and precise handling.

However, both models have their weaknesses as well. The Ducati Streetfighter 2009 is criticized for its rough engine and lack of electronic features. Ducati Streetfighter 2009

The "old" Streetfighter surprised me - despite not having a single electronic feature, this forerunner of today's hyper-naked bikes is very easy to ride! Above all, the engine is a stunner, the 154 hp hang wonderfully on the throttle and the 115 Newton metres of torque deliver a massive amount of lard. Of course, there is a lot of rumble in the box, as you would expect from a Ducati V2, but that doesn't bother the true fans anyway. Instead, they enjoy the precise chassis and the amazingly good brakes. The seating position is perfectly acceptable for a naked bike that would today fit into the category of hyper-nakeds. Even the look is only slightly greyed by the halogen headlight, but the rear end is timelessly beautiful!

Precise, powerful and fast! The Triumph is a lot of fun on Alpine passes. However, you can only forgive the tight chassis if you are a sporty rider. But you have to love the engine. No matter whether you're strolling or heating up - the power is always available in a well-dosed manner.

Incredibly universal - easy to drive in city traffic but also super fast when needed

Rev-happy and powerful engine

Top quickshifter

Can be driven quietly when needed

Light and compact ride

Stable handling even in fast corners

Strong brakes

Precise handling.

Load change reactions at low speeds

squeaky brakes

traction control too defensive even in track mode

vibrations on the handlebars

suspension does not respond sensitively enough - basic set-up too tight.
