Overview - Harley-Davidson Sportster S RH1250S 2021 vs Ducati Scrambler Nightshift 2021

The Harley-Davidson Sportster S RH1250S 2021 and the Ducati Scrambler Nightshift 2021 are both naked bikes with similar engine types and fuel systems. However, there are several key differences between the two models.

In terms of engine power, the Sportster S RH1250S has a much higher output with 122 HP compared to the Nightshift's 73 HP. This makes the Sportster S RH1250S more powerful and potentially more thrilling to ride. The Sportster S RH1250S also has a higher torque of 125 Nm, which can contribute to better acceleration and overall performance.

The suspension systems of the two bikes also differ. The Sportster S RH1250S features Showa suspension components, including an upside-down telescopic fork in the front and a monoshock in the rear. These suspension components offer adjustment options for compression, preload, and rebound. On the other hand, the Nightshift has Kayaba suspension components with a similar setup but lacks the adjustment options found on the Sportster S RH1250S. This could potentially affect the overall ride quality and handling of the Nightshift.

In terms of braking, the Sportster S RH1250S has a single disc front brake with a diameter of 320 mm and four pistons. It also features radial and monoblock technology, which can provide improved braking performance. The Nightshift, on the other hand, has a single disc front brake with a larger diameter of 330 mm and four pistons. While the Nightshift has a larger front brake, it lacks the radial and monoblock technology found on the Sportster S RH1250S. This could result in a difference in braking feel and performance between the two bikes.

When it comes to rider assistance systems, the Sportster S RH1250S offers a more comprehensive package. It includes advanced features such as ABS, riding modes, cornering ABS, ride by wire, cruise control, and traction control. The Nightshift, on the other hand, only offers cornering ABS. This means that the Sportster S RH1250S provides a wider range of electronic aids to enhance safety and performance.

In terms of dimensions and weights, the Nightshift has a lower seat height of 798 mm compared to the Sportster S RH1250S's 755 mm. This could make the Nightshift more accessible to riders with shorter inseams. The Nightshift also has a larger fuel tank capacity of 13.5 liters compared to the Sportster S RH1250S's 11.8 liters. This could potentially result in a longer range for the Nightshift.

In terms of design and aesthetics, both bikes have their own unique style. The Nightshift has a cool and distinctive look, while the Sportster S RH1250S features a more traditional Harley-Davidson design.

Overall, the Sportster S RH1250S offers more power, a more advanced electronics package, and potentially better braking performance. On the other hand, the Nightshift has a smoother engine, a more comfortable chassis, and a lower seat height. Ultimately, the choice between the two models will depend on the rider's preferences and priorities.

Harley-Davidson Sportster S RH1250S 2021

Harley-Davidson Sportster S RH1250S 2021

The Sportster S returns to the tradition of this model series - yes, it really used to be about sport! That's why the latest American creation, with its 122 hp and 125 Nm of torque, doesn't want to be a cruiser, but instead is almost classless in its pursuit of customers. What is on offer is a wonderful poser bike that is surprisingly easy to ride. The single-disc brake at the front works well and the fat 160 front tyre steers better than you would expect. Only the hard suspension makes the rider suffer on longer distances - which of course doesn't matter at all in front of the ice cream parlour. Electronics and safety are top-notch, which mitigates the tidy price for true fans.

Powerful, refined engine

brakes very good for a single-disc system

full electronics package with cornering ABS and lean angle-dependent traction control

Chassis really hard

turn-in behaviour somewhat unwilling due to wide front tyre

Ducati Scrambler Nightshift 2021

Ducati Scrambler Nightshift 2021

In the Scrambler 800 model series, the Nightshift presents itself as a sporty representative for the city and the country road. The engine has enough power and a wonderfully smooth response. The chassis and seating position are comfortable enough to cope with cobblestones, but the saddle is a little too hard. And if you ride too sportily, you will be disillusioned when the braking system demands a lot of power and the standard tyres convey little feeling. However, if you are looking for a cool retro bike with commuter potential and a lot of character, you should definitely consider the new Nightshift!

Smooth engine

comfortable chassis

cornering ABS

strong character bike

cool looks

low seat height of 798 mm.

little feeling for the front wheel

front brake needs manual force

chassis reaches its limits at sporty speeds
