However, both motorcycles have their weaknesses. The Ducati DesertX 2022 has a slightly rough running engine in the lower rev range, which may affect the overall smoothness of the ride. The suspension response is slightly behind that of the fork, which could impact the bike's handling in certain situations. The DesertX also has a very high, non-adjustable seat height, which may not be suitable for shorter riders. Additionally, it lacks space and handholds for a pillion passenger, limiting its usability for two-up riding.

On the other hand, the BMW R 1250 GS Adventure 2023 has a high weight, which may make it more challenging to handle in certain off-road situations. The gearshifts at low revs can be somewhat clumsy, impacting the overall smoothness of the ride. The R 1250 GS Adventure has a jagged appearance with little elegance, which may not appeal to riders looking for a more stylish design. Additionally, it is a high-priced motorcycle, especially when equipped with full equipment, which may not be suitable for budget-conscious buyers.

In conclusion, both the Ducati DesertX 2022 and the BMW R 1250 GS Adventure 2023 are powerful and capable enduro motorcycles with their own strengths and weaknesses. The DesertX offers a great chassis, sophisticated driving modes, and extensive standard equipment, while the R 1250 GS Adventure provides a high-torque engine, practical details, a gigantic range, and great ride comfort. Ducati DesertX 2022

Ducati DesertX 2022

The first real enduro of the modern era from Ducati has succeeded - and how! A heart-warming design in the look of the glorious 90s Dakar bikes but packed with noble components and state-of-the-art technology. The high-quality and stable chassis concept really comes into its own in both on- and off-road use. The DesertX immediately conveys an unbelievably confident and safe riding feeling. The straddle that Ducati has managed with the suspension elements is also admirable, whether on or off road, it simply feels good.

BMW R 1250 GS Adventure 2023

BMW R 1250 GS Adventure 2023

The big GS Adventure is and remains a great motorbike for any terrain - even for tight corners. The low centre of gravity of the boxer engine, the longitudinally mounted crankshaft, the upright seating position and the powerful but easily controllable torque from far below are simply a force. Although the Adventure version has a higher seat with more weight, which is a decisive hindrance when turning or manoeuvring, in terms of performance the engine also has so much punch in the big GS Adventure that you can let it rip. The BMW's braking system is stable and excellently controllable, and the equipment and electronics can be upgraded considerably - as long as you tick the boxes on the order list. Of course, this pushes up the price, but the many fans of the fat GS Adventure obviously don't mind.
